Christmas break blog

Dear class,
I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas break. With snow and presents, it could be easy to get distracted from the true meaning of the season. Remember that Jesus was born and brings light to our world. Be safe during your break and keep blogging here to keep us updated on your activities.

Hey class! I hope all of you are safe with all the ice and snow! This morning when I was reading, my brother came in yelling "NO SCHOOL!" as if it was the best thing ever. I wonder if there will be any school tomorrow?
I will be leaving for Hawaii on Saturday so if it is another day off, we will have more time to pack. I am going to Lanai and Maui. We are staying for one week in each place, so we are staying for two weeks. I probably won't have much access to a computer then so that is why I am telling you some things now. My step Grandmother has a small condo in Maui where there is a golf course and a beach. In Lanai we are going to stay in a hotel near another beach.

What have you guys been up to today? I have been reading a lot, but I still went to Bellevue Square for my Grandma's birthday. Then, my Mom and I went to my new neighbor's house, the Appels, to give them some homemade peanut brittle while Zach and my Dad went to get a haircut. I had some hot chocolate, too. We are going to have snowman pancakes for dinner as a special treat on a snow day! It'll be fun but, to me, it seems like breakfast! Well, see you guys tomorrow if school is not closed. If it is, I hope all of you are safe and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! By Madison

Madison, I love pancakes for dinner! We're having chicken, rice and broccoli for dinner.

I made a lot of Christmas cookies today, but I sure missed our Christmas caroling for the residents at the Franciscan apartments. We will reschedule that for January since the senior citizens love the Christmas sing-a-long.

Who thinks we'll have a snow day tomorrow?

Hi Everyone,
How are you doing? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Yesterday, I was wrapping presents for my cat, Dad and Mom. I also watched some TV and read. In the afternoon, I sang Christmas songs with my Mom in the karaoke. Today, the snow really dropped in our neighborhood. It's white, cold and fluffy outside. When my Mom came home, I went outside and played with my neighbor Elena. We made snowball and then threw them to each other. We had a big snowball fight! Then we went inside our house and drank hot cocoa. My other neighbors Eva, Sahel and Sana just came here and we are now playing Monopoly. That is what I did so far! Bye-Bye! Have a safe snow days! Happy Holidays! We should celebrate Jesus' birthday by being nice to each other! See you next year!
Love,
Abigail

Hi everyone! Ciera what's an outburst? I had a lot of fun yesterday! Elena and I went to the back of my Dad's truck, we scooped some snow out because we just wanted to and it was fun. Today we're going to play again with my neighbors in the snow. We made up a game called snow wars. It's really fun! I can't explain the instructions because we're not done making up the game. Bye Bye! See you later!

Hi class! I was disappointed yesterday because there was no Advent program. I kept on reviewing the words to our song, and when they called to say "no school", I was excited about the snow (because we were going sledding), but very disappointed about the cancelled program. At least we still can sing Christmas carols to the seniors in January!
I did have a wonderful time sledding, though. Zach and I used our new sleds and our Dad used our old, but very fast sled. We went to Chelsea Park. I liked going down the slide because it was really slippery! Then I noticed that somebody was trying to make a snow man. They weren't getting much success except for a big ball. I slowly made progress on building a giant ball as the base for my snowman and I took it home. Now it is in my yard and I am about to go back outside. It is rather hard to do it, though. The snow is fluffy, so it is hard to make them. Wet snow works better, although I like the fluffy kind more! I hope all you have a good snow day. ~ Madi

I'm glad to see some of you are writing here. I sure miss all of you! My husband and I are flying to Montana on Sunday to be with his family for the holidays. Tomorrow, we're going to the Key Arena to watch the Gonzaga Bulldogs play basketball. Gonzaga University is where my husband and I met years and years ago. Maybe you can see the game on TV tomorrow.

I hope all of you are having fun. Remember to keep blogging so we can all stay in touch.

Love,
Ms. Gessner

Nathan, I will be back for school. I am just going for the holidays. I will have to get up really early tomorrow, though.
Ms. Gessner, I can't believe you are going to Montana! How fun! I have never played Scattegories before. I will look for it and I will ask my Mom and Dad if they have played it or heard of it. It is too bad that I can not see the basketball game on T.V.! I would do it if I could but the flight starts at 8:30 A.M. and I have to be there at 6:45 A.M.

Ciera thank you for telling me "Outburst" is a board game! At first I thought outburst was an instrument. Please don't laugh. I saw Celia and Cassidy at Fred Myer today! Are any of you going to see Christmas lights? We're going to see them on Christmas Eve! I was just reading my book. Well, it's so sad that we didn't have the Advent Program. I really practiced the song. Guess what else I did today, I created some music on my keyboard! The music is high, but you sing medium. I didn't name it yet. Are you cold with this weather? Did you get more snow this afternoon? Tukwila got more snow. Merry Christmas!

Hi class! I just arrived in Maui. I know it is late in Seattle, but there is a two hour time difference here. I hope all of you are safe with all the snow. Our journey has been quite adventurous. On our first flight, there was an hour and a half delay, and then, after we arrived in Honolulu to get the inter-island flight there was another delay. The drama really started when we were half way through the inter-island flight, and one of the two engines broke! Zach was the first one to notice that the left propellor was starting to slow down. The weird thing is that we were a little bit closer to Maui than Honolulu, but we still turned back because the airline has its mechanics based in Honolulu, not Maui! Luckily though, after thirty minutes another plane came in. It was the last plane of the day so if we hadn't caught it or something else went wrong I would not be here writing this blog to you! Well, at least after a tiring day I can get some rest and have relaxing time. Meanwhile, what are you guys doing? Is it still snowing? If it is, I hope it's not too bad. It's a very different temperature here. Right now, our door is open and it is very warm, with air that smells like flowers. I am looking forward to swimming tomorrow. Hope you guys are all warm and safe.
Aloha, Madison

Greetings from snowy Newcastle class! It sounds like Madison had quite the adventure today getting to Maui. I hope my trip tomorrow to Montana goes smoother. It's snowed about 5 inches at my house! The Christmas lights and winter wonderland outside really make this a special holiday season. I hope all of your parents are driving safely and that you're enjoying hot cocoa & playing in the snow (or a lemonade and swimming if you're Madison :-).

I'm praying for all of you.

Love,
Ms. Gessner

Hi everyone! Did any of you watch Chef Ography on Food Network? I did! Rachel Ray is sort of like Ms. Gessner. It was fun watching last night. I'm going to play in the snow again today. I can't believe what I just heard, some Filipinos are singing "Angels We Have Heard On High!" Well, actually they are singing Christmas carols. See you later!
"Bye" Abigail ;)

Hi class!
I just came back from swimming in the pool and going to the beach. I hope that you are all safe with the bad (but fun for kids) weather! The beach we went to today is called Fleming Beach and it was VERY wavy! I was boogie-boarding when a huge wave struck me and made me go running for my towel. I wish you all a Merry Christmas (and maybe a white one, too)! I bet all of you are having so much fun in the snow! Have any of you made at least three snowmen? I'd love a weather report about all the snow on the next blog, please!
Ms. Gessner, was your flight all right? Is it snowing in Montana? If it is, I hope you're safe too. I saw the weather report and if I remember correctly, it is. I guess that Hawaii is one of the only places in the U.S. that it is sunny!

Hey class! I hope you are having a great Christmas break! It is sadly coming to an end pretty soon.
This morning my brother and I were the first ones up, then we woke up our parents. I jumped on my dad, but luckily my mom had jumped out of the bed before my brother could get to her. My brother and I marched to the christmas tree and waited for my parents. My grandma had slept over at our house for Christmas and she had to go to the Christmas Mass because she sang in a choir and my mom had to drop her off because she didn't drive her car to our house so my mom dropped her off at Church and my dad wanted to wait for her so we waited for about 15 minutes. When she got home we started to empty our stockings. I got a box of Sees Chocolate Candies box and other stuff. we had a really fun Christmas and I hope you had a fun one too!
