The first trimester ended last Friday. That means we've completed about 12 weeks of school. On Friday, you'll receive your report card.
What have you enjoyed learning over the past couple of months? What has been challenging? What questions do you still have about any of the subjects?
For the next 12 weeks of school, we'll be learning more cursive letters, completing our literature circles, writing more paragraphs and starting multiplication. We'll also be getting ready for the Advent program in a couple weeks. There is a lot to do! Use the blue questions as your guide to answer this week's blog. Remember to check your work for mistakes. Have fun!

Hello Class-
I'm home sick and doing my homework.
I hope all of you had a good weekend.

I have enjoyed learning
math, phonics and spelling. I also enjoy reading.
I find rocket math difficult. I also wish I had more time on the quizzes.

I enjoy mosty everything. My favorite thing is rocket math, but I am especially excited for multiplication facts because I have been practicing a lot! I also agree that we should have more time on quizzes. Otherwise it is difficult to get everything done. That would be frustrating! I like spelling a lot. I agree that the bonus word should be a back up. I think that was a good idea! Phonics is fun, too. I like learning about vowels and consononts. I love science because the plants are fun to watch while they grow. Brassica plants are definitely plants that are fun to watch. I don't like social studies as much as everything else. That's pretty much it.

I have enjoyed literature circles and pretty much all the subjects you taught us. I especially like doing cursive and spelling fun-packs!! They are so much fun! I really enjoy being in 3B. The things that are still challenging to me is rocket- math because when you get on to minus and you say it really fast it is harder because you are so used to saying plus. The questions I have about some of the subjects are:
1.Will math get harder and harder when we get farther into the year?
2.In spelling will we ever get more than sixteen spelling words?
3.Will we do another story in literature circles?
By Marie
I have enjoyed learning Social Studies because I learned about the world and how things work.
I also like Religion because I feel closer to God. Reading is another subject I like because it is fun reading stories! Tests have been my most challenging activity because they make me think really hard.

Hi class,
I'm busy doing your report cards and grading last week's spelling test. I've read over your questions & comments. Here are some of my responses.
When you're struggling on tests, make sure to use your time well. If you spend all your time on problems that get you stuck, you'll lose time. Skip the ones that are really tricky and return to them at the end of your time.
As for math getting harder Marie...yes, it will definitely get harder as we move into multiplication, division, fractions, geometry and measurement.
In spelling, we will always have 15 regular words and one bonus word. Finally, if the class does a good job with our current chapter book, we will probably do literature circles in the spring with a different book.
Hope everyone is ready for chapter 3 tomorrow!

I enjoy phonics, cursive, and science and spelling. Social studies is hard for me.

My favorite subjewct is math, sience, and reading.
What are your favorite subjects Mrs.Gessener?
My favorite subject growing up was spelling. I used to pretend I was a teacher and I'd use my teddy bears as students. Today, my favorite subject to teach is math and reading.

P.S. Who wrote the last blog?
That's very funny, Ms. Gessner!
I might have done that if I wanted to be a teacher. Did you ever play with dolls? I used to, but now I have grown out of them. Instead I play with my Webkinz. Anyway, did you ever have a tea party? Who was your best friend? This is what I'm wondering.
~Madi
My favorite subject in school is reading, spelling, phonix and MATH. I have one question is homework going to get harder. I think NOTHING is hard as I say again. YOU'ER THE BEST.

Madison,
I did have tea parties when I was a child. My best friend was Elaine. We were inseparable! She lives far away now, but I think about her often.
Pray,
Thank you for the nice compliment. I do think homework will get harder because you're learning and growing right now. As you learn new material, you might find it challenging.
Here's a mini question of the week for the class:
Do you like homework? If it's a fun pack or literature circle, do you wait until the last minute to complete it? Are you the type of person who likes to get it done right away?
I better go to bed. It's late!
~ Ms. Gessner
