Question of the Week #2

Hi class,

I'm really enjoying seeing everyone's comments on the blog. You're doing a good job sharing your thoughts and ideas. That's exactly what I was looking for when we started this. This week's question has to do with the story "Teammates" from our Open Court reading book. In that story, we have read about Jackie Robinson and how people were prejudice against him. Remember, prejudice means judging someone without really knowing what they're like on the inside. There are still people today that are prejudice about race, religion, etc. This week's question is this:

What can we do to stop people from being prejudice?

If you answer the question on Monday night, you will get 2 extra credit points for your reading grade. Remember to check your work for mistakes before sending it out. I'm looking forward to reading your answers.

~ Ms. Gessner

I think we can help people from being prejudice. The people that say stuff like that should think before they speak. If they say that kind of stuff to someone then they should say sorry.

I think we can help people from being prejudice by stopping and thinking and saying "Maybe this guy isn`t so bad."Maybe that will
help you from being prejudice.

I think we can also stop people from being prejudice. If someone is prejudice you should show them what you're real inside is without saying it to them in words. That is because if you do that you might sound mean or that you're bragging. Then they would likely say they're sorry about what they said about you. If they are a big group (like the Klu Klux Klan) you should start a petition. (to sign different peoples' names on paper; to protest) If you get enough names it might fix the problem. That is how I think we should stop people who are being prejudice.

I think we can stop people from being prejudice by working it out. Marie and Madison are right. Also we should work it out by starting to be nice to each other. by Celia

I think we can stop people from being prejudice by telling them that it dose not matter what color skin you have. If you take some time to sit down with him or her you might become friends. by Julia

First get to know someone before you say anything about them.

Stand up for people when people are saying bad things about them.

We can stop people from being prejudice by having a talk with them about ways not be prejudice. We can tell them that it's not good to judge other people. We could also say that prejudice hurts. We can stop people from being prejudice by being friendly with everybody whoever they are. We should not choose our friends. We should play and talk with everybody.

When you hear someone being prejudice say "stop!" by Zach N.

How we could stop being prejudice is not caring about what other people's skin is and not caring about anything the person does or what their religion is. You could also make up with the people that you judged by their skin.

I think we can help people from being prejudice by no saying mean things to other people because of their different race, religion or beliefs. Everyone should be respected for who they are. If someone is bullying someone of a a different race, it is my duty to say "Hey, this guy should be respected as much as anyone else, so leave him alone!" By Hayden

The way we can stop people from being prejudice is to tell them what the other person is like inside.

I Think we can tell prejudice people that they should treat everyone equally. by Adam

We can stop people from being prejudice we should just sit them down and talk about it. That would help them understand that all people are the same. I like everybody's ideas. by Max

I think we could stop people from being prejudice by thinking about how we would want to be treated. Maybe saying something when we hear someone saying rude things about another person they don't even know would help. People should always get to know someone before they think bad things about them.-Cailin
